Who doesn’t love warm, gooey breadsticks stuffed with cheese and brushed with savory butter? These Cheese-Stuffed Breadsticks are perfect for game nights, gatherings, or simply indulging your cravings. With the base of our Detroit-Style Pizza Dough and a touch of D.O.C. Rub, they’re a simple, flavorful treat that will impress your family and friends.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

Start by preparing a full batch of Detroit-Style Pizza Dough, following the instructions on the package. After the 24-hour resting period, remove the dough from the refrigerator and place it on a greased cookie sheet. Allow it to rest for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Shape the Dough

After resting, stretch the dough to fill the cookie sheet evenly. This will be the base for your breadsticks.

Step 3: Add the Cheese

Unwrap your string cheese sticks and place them along the long edge of the dough, ensuring there’s enough space between each to cut the breadsticks later.

Step 4: Fold and Seal

Carefully fold the dough over the cheese sticks, pinching the edges tightly to seal the dough and enclose the cheese. Move the dough to the center of the cookie sheet.

Step 5: Cut the Breadsticks

Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into individual breadsticks. Cover the pan lightly with aluminum foil and let the dough rise for 3 hours.

Step 6: Bake the Breadsticks

Preheat your oven to 450°F. Once the dough has risen, remove the foil and bake the breadsticks on the center rack for 8 minutes.

Step 7: Add Savory Butter

While the breadsticks are baking, prepare a savory butter glaze. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in the microwave, mix in ½ tablespoon of D.O.C. Rub, and stir until well combined.

Step 8: Brush and Finish Baking

After 8 minutes, remove the breadsticks from the oven and generously brush them with the melted butter mixture. Rotate the pan 180 degrees and return the breadsticks to the oven. Bake for an additional 8 minutes.

Step 9: Serve and Enjoy

Once baked to golden perfection, remove the breadsticks from the oven, cut them again to separate, and serve warm with heated Classic Pizza Sauce for dipping.

Tips for Success:

  • Seal it tight: Pinching the dough tightly around the cheese ensures it stays inside while baking.

  • Don’t skip the rise: Allowing the dough to rise for 3 hours gives these breadsticks their perfect fluffy texture.

  • Rotate for even baking: Rotating the pan halfway through ensures all the breadsticks bake evenly.

These Cheese-Stuffed Breadsticks are more than a side dish—they’re a star on their own! Pair them with our Classic Pizza Sauce for a dipping experience you’ll keep coming back for. Try this recipe today, and let us know how it turned out!

Happy cooking!
